Known for its colorful flair, South Beach vibe and British eats, Queens Head in Downtown St. Pete has been a beloved spot amongst locals and tourists for a few years now. Still a favorite, this European gastropub is refining, improving, and going through some fabulous changes due to new ownership. In June of 2015, Tracy Asalita, stepped in as proud owner of the restaurant, located at 2501 Central Avenue, and DTSP is thrilled for the changes she is implementing. 727-498-8584

First, allow me to introduce the new menu at Queens Head. I am not here to ruffle your feathers, so take a deep breath because the popular dishes are staying! Asalita has simply added more choices table. You can still enjoy classics such as the Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, and the Steak and Ale Pie, but be prepared to drool over the three added themes. Feast your eyes upon the mouth watering Beef Shortribs that you can taste as sliders or an entrée, awesome vegan and vegetarian options such as the Veggie Burger and Veggie Shepherd’s Pie, and new Italian items with fresh pasta. Think of the revised menu as a trip through Europe, rather than just British deliciousness.
While making the restaurant her own and taking it to the next level, Tracy Asalita is focused on honoring the Queens Head legacy and maintaining the atmosphere, while putting her own stamp on it. The enhancement she has made outside to the adorable seating area and cabanas has really brightened up the patio and is beyond inviting. Surround yourself with old friends for brunch or meet new ones during an evening with cool entertainment such as live local music and open mic night! (Don’t forget that the outdoor seating area is dog friendly, so bring your pups so they can join the fun too).
Who is Tracy Asalita and why is Queens Head benefiting from her ownership?
Growing up in Chicago, she had the bright idea of escaping to beautiful St. Pete about sixteen years ago. Then making the decision to work for herself, she left her IT job and attended culinary school, which led her to the opportunity to travel to Italy and train for a few months. Finding her groove in the restaurant industry and learning the ins and outs of all of the positions, she decided to open her own.
Having fallen in love with the vibrant community of the Grand Central District of Downtown St. Pete, she hoped to start from scratch and open a new eatery in the area. Tracy quickly realized that there were no available restaurant spaces, so she poked her head around to see what was for sale. Lo and behold, Queens Head was available! (Oddly enough, she and her partner had their first date at Queens Head years ago and they always loved the welcoming and relaxing vibe – sounds to me like it was all meant to be).
Although Downtown St. Pete has an abundance of friendly restaurants with scrumptious food and delightful atmosphere, Queens Head is truly for anyone. It was the first restaurant I ate dinner at in DTSP and it is one reason why I immediately fell in love with the area. My dad loves the cheerful décor, mom craves the fish and chips, and my girlfriends are always excited about the wine list and mimosas. So let’s be honest – why aren’t you on your way to Queens Head right now?!
